Our Community Work
Dot Dot Dot is a social enterprise. Our mission to use vacant properties to generate social value lies at the heart of what we do.
Placing Dot Dot Dot property guardians in vacant properties ensures that they are kept tidy and cared for, avoiding the blight which neglected or boarded up houses can inflict on neighbourhoods.
“Dot Dot Dot is genuinely innovative and exciting idea which could provide accommodation to hundreds of people, whilst also rewarding those who want to make a real difference to our communities. A great idea all round.”
Campbell Robb, Chief Executive, Shelter
On top of this, our property guardians are dedicated to work which benefits the community. By being property guardians, they gain inexpensive accommodation which reduces the financial pressures they face, allowing them to give more time and energy to the valuable projects they are involved with. Dot Dot Dot supports them to build on their voluntary work.
Those living close to the properties that Dot Dot Dot protects can be confident that our property guardians are reliable, considerate individuals who make great neighbours.
“The Dot Dot Dot guardians are helping out enormously at our little farm: from mucking in with the daily tasks and helping care for our lovely animals, to heading projects to expand the groups we reach and move into using the farm as a therapeutic tool. They have been absolutely fantastic, being proactive in making links with other projects and setting up trial sessions for a new service with elderly people – we wouldn’t be able to do it without them!”
Katharine Sharp, Volunteer Manager, Stepney City Farm
