Join us as a Business Development Co-ordinator

Job description

Job title: Business Development Co-ordinator

Closing date:   31st May 2015

Location: Based in our office at Toynbee Hall in Aldgate East.  An office move within east London is likely during 2015.

Working hours:   Full time

Time-frame: One-year contract, with possibility of extension

Salary: £23,000 – £27,000 commensurate with experience.

Dot Dot Dot, a young and fast-growing social enterprise which allows people who do great volunteering to live in buildings that would otherwise be empty, is looking for a new Business Development Co-ordinator to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing social enterprise in a pivotal role, working as part of a great team to scale up a proven and award-winning model by helping us to attract new clients.

About us:

Dot Dot Dot allows people who do brilliant voluntary work to live cheaply as property guardians in buildings that would otherwise be empty.

By doing this, we create benefits for everyone involved:

  • Our guardians receive inexpensive housing, a sense of belonging to a community, and our support to give as much of their time as they can.
  • Landlords gain reliable, flexible, cost-effective security plus a cost-free opportunity to make a positive difference to their area.
  • Neighbours avoid the blight that empty buildings cause, and gain from our guardians’ volunteering.

We are growing swiftly.  Today, we are a team of eight, housing hundreds of guardians who between them give thousands of hours a month to charitable purposes. In five years, we aim to be housing a thousand guardians, who will be giving tens of thousands of hours to good causes, making a positive difference to others’ lives, and becoming motivated to give time to charitable causes and to contribute to the community for the rest of their lives.  At the same time, we will continue to celebrate volunteering, advocate for better housing for all, reshape attitudes to empty buildings and drive up standards in the security industry.

We have significant support for this vision of our future, including backing from the Cabinet Office and Nesta.  Last year, The Observer named us one of Britain’s 50 ‘New Radicals’, the organisations with the best ideas for dealing with the country’s most pressing problems, and our founder, Katharine Hibbert, was named UK Social Entrepreneur of the Year by Ashoka and Ben and Jerry’s.
