Housing hundreds of brilliant people in Barnet

Dot Dot Dot is delighted to announce that we are starting work with Barnet Homes, which manages housing for the London Borough of Barnet, to place our brilliant property guardians into homes that would otherwise be empty in the Dollis Valley and West Hendon Estates.

Barnet has ambitious plans for the regeneration of these estates, which will see the creation of thousands of homes. We are looking forward to working with residents, the council and local third sector organisations to ensure that there is a positive local impact through a time of change. Volunteering effort will be directed to where there is the most need and we will offer training and employment locally. Our guardians will also maintain a sense of community, creating stability and providing reassurance for longer-term residents.

We are excited about this five-year working relationship with Barnet because our high quality social enterprise approach works brilliantly at scale. The time and volume of properties involved in the regeneration scheme will allow us to generate significant social impact in the area. We will build long-lasting partnerships with the charities and community groups who benefit from our guardians’ volunteering. As the regeneration scheme includes several phases, there will be opportunities for guardians to move within the estates – we look forward to housing flexible people for sustained periods of time.

At the same time as creating significant social impact alongside consistent service delivery, Barnet have chosen to work with us because we will deliver an outstanding voids management service. Our property guardian service will keep properties safe and will deter crime and antisocial behaviour. Furthermore, in Barnet we will be securing properties by other methods where they cannot be made safe and appropriate for guardians.

We look forward to welcoming great guardians to our Barnet properties – please apply now if you are interested in great value housing and support for voluntary work in West Hendon and Dollis Valley.
