New volunteering opportunities with Furry Tales
Where: Stepney City Farm

Furry Tales is a project designed to improve the well-being of older people in East London by providing contact with animals and a connection to the local farming community.
They are based at Stepney City Farm and work with residential homes, day care centres, befriending services and individuals to deliver Animal-Assisted Activities in the East End.
There are lots of ways to get involved in the project, as a Volunteer, Ambassador or Donor. Read about the opportunities here and book a place at their information evening on Monday 15th September, 6.30 – 8.30pm, at Stepney City Farm to find out more.
Volunteers needed to help maintain a community garden
Where: Cubitt Town Library, 56 Strattondale Street, E14 3HG

Interested in gardening? Want to help develop a community garden? Can you spare a couple of hours a week? The space at Cubitt Town Library has recently been developed and raised beds installed but help is needed to maintain the site and grow a variety of shrubs, flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables.
This is a perfect opportunity to get involved in a community project, meet new people and share knowledge so if you are interested please contact rashida.begum@towerhamlets.gov.uk for more information.
Volunteers needed for community engagement and micro-allotment programme

When: Sept – Oct 2014
Vacant Lot was created to help provide more people with greater access to plots of land on which to grow food, socialise with neighbours and simply enjoy being outside.
They will be running a series of events over the next few months. The schedule looks like this;
Sun 7 Sept, 12-3pm: Gardening workshop, Wensdale house, Northwold estate
Sat 13 Sept, 1-5pm: Outdoor autumn feast, Chart Street
Sun 14 Sept, 1-5pm: Outdoor autumn feast, Asker House, Turfnel Park Road
Sat 4 Oct, 1-5pm: Outdoor autumn east, Barnsbury estate, near Angel
Sun 5 Oct, 1-5pm: Outdoor autumn feast, Wensdale House, Northwold estate
They’ll also be running workshops for garden members on how to set up and run a successful Garden Members group. Dates TBC.

Shop Volunteer for London’s Air Ambulance
Where: Whitechapel Hospital

London’s Air Ambulance is London’s only helicopter emergency medical service, which provides pre-hospital care to victims of serious injury throughout London – serving the 10 million people who live, work and commute within the M25.
They are currently seeking volunteers to work in their charity shop at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel hospital. More information on the role and how to apply available here.
Volunteer Treasurer sought for Stepney City Farm
Where: Stepney City Farm, Tower Hamlets

Stepney City Farm in London’s East End is a working farm, Rural Arts Centre and community meeting place; they are free to enter and open six days a week.
They are seeking a Treasurer to join their Board of Trustees. The Treasurer will be responsible for keeping a watchful eye over all aspects of their financial management. They will have a part-time bookkeeper in post for the day to day financial administration.
