Protecting the environment is central to our business
Dot Dot Dot Property Guardians is a social enterprise, in business to contribute to communities and to protect our environment. Our environmental policy is therefore central to what we do.
We exist to place guardians who are committed to voluntary work in buildings that would otherwise be empty. By doing so, we get those properties into use for everyone’s benefit, protecting landlords and neighbourhoods from the problems that vacant buildings can attract, and providing inexpensive accommodation for guardians.
This approach prevents the environmental problems that can result from buildings from becoming derelict – when they are neglected, the materials and energy which have gone into building them is wasted, and energy- and resource-intensive remedial work may be needed to repair them.
Many of our guardians will also be involved with voluntary work which improves the environment. By providing them with a cheap home, Dot Dot Dot hopes to make it possible for them to increase the time they contribute to such work.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that concern for the environment and determination to make the best use of resources is part of all our operations, including management, office services, printing, delivery and procurement.
