Uxbridge town centre

Uxbridge town centre can be reached with a ten minute walk across Fray’s River. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from – the authentic, family run Nonna Rossa provides authentic Italian food in a fine dining atmosphere. Visit Mediterranean restaurant, Chez Melissa, for traditional Greek salad and grilled Koftas or Martin’s Fare for some classic British fare in an intimate setting.

Top pubs include The Queen’s Head and The Swan & Bottle for a quaint, traditional setting. The General Elliot, just a few minutes’ stroll from the properties, offers a scenic setting to watch the world go by in their beer garden on the edge of the Grand Union Canal.

Arts and leisure

If you’re looking for ways to showcase your own talents, Uxbridge Library holds bi-weekly open mic nights. Lovers of comedy, poetry and spoken word art can enjoy contributions from members of the community, and you can get involved yourself by booking your slot at openmic@hillingdon.gov.uk.

At Hillingdon Leisure Complex, you can enjoy an al fresco swim in their heated outdoor lido, attend fitness classes, try out the climbing wall and even enjoy a spa treatment.

You can also discover a taste of local history by stepping back in time at the Battle of Britain Bunker. During the Second World War, this bunker was where a majority of the RAF’s coordination took place, and you can even see the plotting room in its exact state when Winston Churchill visited on 15 September 1940.
