Make sure to check out the vibrant murals on Aberfeldy Street – commissioned by Poplar Harca to encourage people to shop locally where possible. A small team of people worked to transform the road for six weeks during lockdown 2020. The patterns were inspired by the local community and business owners who donated old clothes and textiles. The aim was to reflect the social history of the area – with east London being associated with the manufacturing of textiles since the 18th century, and the Jewish and Bengali communities who lived there.
