The properties

Our low-cost flats in Poplar vary in size and number of bedrooms. Some properties have private gardens and others have balconies with views of the Canary Wharf skyline.

Outdoor space

Local green spots include Braithwaite Park, Aberfeldy Millenium Green and Leven Road Green. You can escape the bustle of the city with pleasant walks along the River Lea over the Blue Bridge to Bow Creek Ecology Park. Soak up the natural habitats and wildlife on the peninsula whilst enjoying views across the water of The O2, a large entertainment complex.

The local area

Chrisp Street Market is a lively spot with a bunch of useful high street stores, plus charity shops and a marketplace with fruit and veg stalls.

You can’t miss the vibrant murals on Aberfeldy Street – commissioned by local housing association Poplar Harca, to encourage people to shop locally. A small team worked to transform the road to reflect the social history of the area – with east London being associated with the manufacturing of textiles since the 18th century, and the Jewish and Bengali communities who lived there. The patterns were inspired by the local community and business owners who donated old clothes and textiles.

Volunteering

Making a difference to the local and wider community is what we’re all about, and Dot Dot Dot guardians volunteer at least 16 hours every month for good causes. There are loads of ways to get involved with local causes via Poplar HARCA, from leading a community group to supporting events. The Spotlight Youth Centre supports young people’s development and empowers the wider community. You’ll volunteer  alongside a large team consisting of staff, volunteers and incredible partners.

As a guardian, you are at the heart of the community. I’m new to the UK and I’ve already got to meet lots of people from different backgrounds through neighbours and volunteering. I’ve helped my neighbour fix a few things around their flat, and we’ve become friends."

Licence fee review

Dot Dot Dot undertakes a licence fee review every twelve months. Broadly, any increases will be based on the rate of inflation at the time of review, but they will also take into account any specific changes in our costs or in the local market. We also look at changes to council tax rates and utilities. Current guardians will be given at least two month’s notice before their licence fees change and new guardians will not face changes for at least six months.
